Description
This Rococo Revival style oval wall mirror features a molded gesso over wood frame with a gilt finish. The frame is designed with an elaborate pierced cresting that includes scrolling acanthus leaves, C-scrolls, and a central shell and fleur-de-lis motif, with a coordinating foliate drop ornament at the base. The mirror plate is detailed with wheel-cut etched floral and foliate vine patterns across the upper portion and features five applied decorative gilded rosettes on the glass surface. The reverse of the mirror plate is stamped with a mark for Wolf Blitz, Louisville, KY. The back construction reveals an octagonal mirror plate mounted within the oval frame.
