Description
This item is a photomechanical lithographic reproduction after an original watercolor by the American Impressionist Paul Sawyier, titled The Old Post Office and also known as Corner of Celebrities. The scene depicts a view of Wapping Street in Frankfort, Kentucky, during the autumn. The composition features a large foreground tree with golden-brown leaves, a stone gatepost, a white picket fence, and the limestone cupola of the historic post office in the background. The print is hand-numbered 462/4000 in ink in the lower right corner. The artwork is presented with a double mat, including a cream-colored fabric outer mat and a gold-toned inner mat, housed under glass in a decorative molded and gilded wood frame. Attached to the verso is a certificate of authentication from Paul Sawyier Galleries, Inc., which identifies the artist and confirms the reproduction was printed in 1987.Frame: 19 x 13 1/4 inches.
