Description
A pair of vintage framed prints after the original lithographs by Currier and Ives, titled American Homestead Spring and American Homestead Winter. The scenes depict idealized 19th-century rural American life, featuring a farmhouse with blossoming trees and sheep in the spring scene, and a snow-covered homestead with a horse-drawn sleigh in the winter scene. Each print bears the printed inscription PUBLISHED BY CURRIER AND IVES at the lower left and 152 NASSAU ST NEW YORK at the lower right. Centered at the bottom of each is the copyright line ENTERED ACCORDING TO ACT OF CONGRESS IN THE YEAR 1868 BY CURRIER AND IVES IN THE CLERKS OFFICE OF THE DISTRICT COURT OF THE U.S. FOR THE SOUTHERN DISTRICT OF NEW YORK. These are mid-20th-century decorative reproductions. They are housed in matching dark wood frames with a scalloped profile and a gilt inner liner. The reverse of each frame has a brown paper dust cover with an AMERICANA label stamped with the size 11X14 and inventory numbers 3894 and 2675.Frame Height: 13.5 inchesFrame Width: 15.5 inches.
