Description
This lot features a limited edition offset lithographic reproduction after an original watercolor by American artist Paul Sawyier (1865-1917), titled The Blacksmith Shop. The image depicts a winter rural landscape with a figure on a white horse carrying large baskets on a snow-covered path, passing another figure standing near a weathered outbuilding. The work displays the soft, impressionistic style and atmospheric washes characteristic of Sawyier’s Kentucky landscapes. The artist signature is printed in the plate at the lower right, and the piece is hand-numbered 525/4000 in pencil. The print is double-matted with a navy blue top mat and a thin burgundy inner mat, housed in an ornate gilt wood frame with scrolled molding and beaded details.Exterior Frame: 26.5 inches x 21.5 inches.
