Description
This lot features a limited edition print titled The Fading Day by the American Impressionist artist Paul Sawyier (1865–1917). The work is a reproduction of an original watercolor depicting a Kentucky winter landscape, characterized by a snow-covered road winding toward a cluster of distant houses, set against a backdrop of dark evergreens and a muted twilight sky with a prominent star. The print is executed on textured art paper and is identified as a Publisher’s Proof. It bears a printed signature by the artist in the lower left corner and a handwritten pencil notation in the lower right reading Publisher’s Proof 142/200. The piece is presented in a stained oak-finished wood frame with triple matting in grey and white tones, including a recessed title label.
