Paul Sawyier (American, 1865-1917), The Hemp Breaker, framed reproduction print. This work depicts a classic Kentucky rural scene by the noted impressionist artist, featuring a farm laborer in a hat and suspenders operating a manual hemp breaker. The figure is surrounded by shocks of harvested hemp in a field characterized by a soft, hazy atmosphere. The piece is signed in the lower-left corner PAUL SAWYIER. It is presented in a contemporary double mat of brown and peach tones under glass and housed in a decorative molded frame with dark wood and gilt finishes.
