Description
This is a limited edition collector print after an original watercolor by Paul Sawyier (American, 1865-1917) titled The Fountain. The artwork illustrates a rain-softened scene on Wapping Street in Frankfort, Kentucky, featuring an ornate lamppost fountain as the focal point. Figures carrying umbrellas are shown on a wet sidewalk near the entrance of the former Post Office, which now serves as the Paul Sawyier Library. The artist signature is present in the lower-left corner within the plate. A label on the verso from Paul Sawyier Galleries, Inc., Frankfort, Kentucky, is dated 1973 and certifies this as one of 4,000 collector prints.
