Description

A vintage decanter produced for the Henry McKenna brand of Kentucky whiskey. The vessel is constructed from glazed stoneware featuring cobalt blue transfer-print decoration. The front displays the brand name in arched lettering above a stylized symmetrical floral motif. Lower text identifies the production origin as Fairfield, Nelson County, Kentucky, and specifies the brand was established in 1855. The reverse side of the jug near the base is marked with the volume 4/5 Quart. The jug is formed with a classic single-finger handle and a narrow neck. It retains a partially intact silver foil label on the shoulder indicating a 6-year aging period, along with a partial federal revenue tax stamp bearing serial number D 3609218. The original cork stopper is present. Height: 8 3/4 inches Base Diameter: 4 inches.
