Description
This is an antique manual candlestick desk stand telephone manufactured by Western Electric for the American Telephone and Telegraph Company (AT&T). The stand is constructed of metal with a black finish, commonly referred to as a japan finish. The handheld receiver features a dark brown shell, likely composed of hard rubber or early bakelite. The transmitter face is fitted with a metal identification plate stamped Property of American Tel & Tel Co, 323, and Pat. U.S.A. Jan. 14, 1913. The circular weighted base is incised with the marks Western Electric and Made in U.S.A. and retains a worn brown felt pad on its underside. The unit includes a brown cloth-covered line cord and a black receiver cord. Height: 11.5 inches Base Diameter: 5.25 inches.
