Description
This lot features two mismatched antique-style armless rocking chairs, commonly known as sewing rockers. The first chair is a hardwood ladder-back rocker finished in black paint with gold-toned stenciling in the manner of Hitchcock furniture. The decoration includes a central star flanked by leafy branches on the lower back slat, with faint remnants of a matching stencil on the upper slat. It is constructed with turned front posts and a woven fiber rush seat. The second chair is an American Colonial Revival style fiddle-back rocker crafted from dark-stained hardwood. It features a shaped central splat within a rectangular frame and turned front legs. The padded seat is upholstered in a cream-colored fabric featuring vertical green stripes and floral motifs.
