Description
This ten-gallon stoneware crock is attributed to the Buckeye Pottery Co. of Macomb, Illinois, based on the distinctive font and style of the stenciled cobalt blue capacity mark. The large, cylindrical vessel is constructed from stoneware and features a thick, rounded rim and two applied ear-style handles. The exterior is finished in an off-white Bristol glaze, while the interior is coated with a dark brown Albany-type slip glaze. The front of the crock displays a prominent stenciled cobalt blue number 10, with the zero featuring a decorative vertical line through its center. No other maker’s marks or stamps are visible on the piece.Height: 17 inchesOuter Rim Diameter: 15 inches.
