Description
This miniature kitchen range is a cast iron toy manufactured by the Crescent Foundry Co. of St. Louis, Missouri. The front oven door bears the maker name Crescent in raised relief, with the initial letter stylized as a crescent moon surrounding a six-pointed star. The stove body features four burner holes with removable circular lids. Included is a collection of miniature cast iron pots and skillets designed to fit the burners. The range is outfitted with an ornate openwork backsplash that incorporates a central chimney flue and a small warming shelf. A removable openwork shelf is attached to the right side of the main housing. The piece features a functional hinged oven door and a smaller hinged firebox door on the left side.
