Description

This is an offset lithographic print on paper after a watercolor original by Kentucky artist Paul Sawyier. The scene, titled Pinnacle Point, depicts a man in historical clothing leading two horses through the shallow waters of Elkhorn Creek. A large limestone cliff face rises in the background, surrounded by trees with autumnal foliage rendered in a soft, impressionistic style. The print features a printed signature in the lower left corner reading Paul Sawyier and is hand-numbered 008/2500 in the lower right. The work is housed in a dark-stained, molded wood frame with a cream-colored mat. The verso retains a large historical and certification label from the Frankfort Blue Print & Supply Co. of Frankfort, Kentucky. This label includes a text titled The Legend of Pinnacle Point by Nettie Henry Glenn and a hand-signed certification by Lou Walpert, matching the edition number 008/2500. A gold-foil corporate seal for the Frankfort Blue Print & Supply Co. is affixed to the label.Overall frame: 21 x 27.5 inches.
