Description
This is a vintage one-gallon insulated utility jug manufactured by the Macomb Manufacturing Company of Macomb, Illinois. Known as the Thrift Jug, this model was designed for the transport of both liquids and foods. The vessel is constructed with a black painted metal exterior and a thick white ceramic stoneware interior liner. It is equipped with a wire bail handle featuring a contoured wooden grip and a large threaded aluminum screw cap. The front of the jug retains its original rectangular paper label with red and black typography on a yellow background. The label transcription is as follows: MACOMB THRIFT JUG, ESPECIALLY DESIGNED FOR CARRYING LIQUIDS OR FOODS, ONE-GALLON-CAPACITY, MANUFACTURED BY MACOMB MANUFACTURING CO. MACOMB, ILL. Height: 9.75 inches Diameter: 8.75 inches.
