Description
A collection of miniature ceramic whiskey decanters produced for Wild Turkey Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey by the Austin, Nichols Distilling Co. of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. Each decanter is modeled as a wild turkey in a different lifelike pose, including an alert standing position, an extended neck pose, a strutting pose with raised tail feathers, and a leaning alert pose. The decanters feature a two-piece construction where the head and upper neck serve as a removable stopper. The ceramic bodies are finished with multi-colored high-gloss glazes in shades of brown, red, blue, and green. One decanter retains a paper identification label reading: WILD TURKEY KENTUCKY STRAIGHT BOURBON WHISKEY, 101 PROOF – 8 YEARS OLD – 50 ML, BOTTLED BY THE AUSTIN, NICHOLS DISTILLING CO., LAWRENCEBURG, KY. These items were issued as promotional collectibles, part of a larger series produced during the 1970s and 1980s.
