Description
This is a set of four figural miniature whiskey decanters produced for the Austin Nichols Distilling Co. of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. Each decanter is constructed from hand-painted glazed ceramic and depicts a wild turkey in one of four distinct poses, including various head positions and body stances. The birds are mounted on naturalistic bases modeled as logs or greenery. The glaze features a multi-colored palette of browns, oranges, reds, and blues to replicate the natural plumage of the bird. Each figure consists of a main body and a removable head and neck section which serves as the stopper. Gold-tone foil labels are affixed to the base of each item. These labels contain the following text: WILD TURKEY KENTUCKY STRAIGHT BOURBON WHISKEY, 101 PROOF – 8 YEARS OLD – 50 ML, and BOTTLED BY THE AUSTIN, NICHOLS DISTILLING CO., LAWRENCEBURG, KY. These items were part of a popular series released by the distillery, typically dating from the 1970s and 1980s. They are being offered as empty collectible containers.
