Description

FOR PICK UP OR SHIPPING ONLY: A 19th-century American primitive dry sink of one-piece softwood construction, likely pine or poplar. The upper portion features a deep well characterized by a high splash-back and slanted side profiles. Below the well, the cabinet features two recessed-panel doors that open to an interior fitted with a single horizontal shelf. The construction is characteristic of rural craftsmanship, utilizing simple butt joints and square-cut nails. The back of the piece is composed of three wide, rough-hewn vertical boards. The exterior is finished in a worn reddish-brown wash over an earlier mustard-yellow paint, which remains visible on the interior of the doors. The sink well is painted in a weathered sage green. Hardware consists of two small white porcelain door knobs, simple metal turn-latches, and iron hinges.
