This collection contains several antique and vintage hardcover volumes encompassing regional history, literature, and juvenile fiction. The group includes a quarto-sized volume titled History of Madison County Ohio, dated 1915 on the spine and bound in brown textured cloth with gilt-stamped lettering. Also present is a volume titled Woman and Puppet by Pierre Lou?s, bearing the statement Privately Printed on the spine; this book is bound in cream cloth with an ornate gold-gilt floral design. The set contains two non-consecutive volumes (III and IV) of Macaulay’s History of England, bound in dark brown textured cloth with gilt-stamped titles and blind-stamped borders. Completing the assortment are two pictorial cloth volumes by Horatio Alger, Jr., titled Andy Grant’s Pluck and Only an Irish Boy, published by Hurst & Co. Both Alger volumes feature matching color cover illustrations depicting a boy in a blue uniform running in front of a steam locomotive.
