This collection of hardcover books includes a variety of historical and legal works in publisher’s cloth and period leather bindings. Prominent titles include a two-volume set of Macaulay’s History of England in dark brown cloth; a two-volume edition of Julius Caesar published by Harper & Brothers in green cloth with decorative gilt star motifs; and H.G. Wells’ The Outline of History, Third Edition Revised, published by Macmillan in red cloth. Also present is The Pageant of America 9: Makers of a New Nation by John Spencer Bassett, published by Yale University Press in a dark, pebble-grained cloth binding. The collection features multiple volumes of Cranch’s Reports (legal reports by William Cranch) bound in aged tan leather with red spine labels. Additional volumes in the assortment include works with marbled paper boards and thin volumes in coarse tan cloth or buckram. The books are primarily in octavo format.
