Description
This mid-19th-century hand-colored lithograph is titled The Little Emperor and was produced by the prominent American firm Currier & Ives. The image depicts a seated young child wearing a white off-the-shoulder gown with a large, hand-colored red sash. Positioned to the left of the child is a blue military-style cap adorned with a gold star-shaped medal. The print includes several inscriptions in the lower margin: Lith & Pub. by Currier & Ives on the far left, 152 Nassau St N.Y. on the far right, and the title The Little Emperor centered above the stock number 708. The address provided indicates a publication date between 1857 and 1872.
