Description
This hand-colored lithograph, titled Little Daisy, was produced by the prominent American firm Currier and Ives. The print depicts a young girl with dark, ringlet curls wearing a red dress and a blue shawl. She is shown holding a large bundle containing grain stalks and red poppy flowers. The title LITTLE DAISY. is printed in the lower margin. Below the title, the publication information reads NEW YORK, PUBLISHED BY CURRIER and IVES, 125 NASSAU ST. The image is a standard example of a 19th-century commercial lithograph that has been finished with hand-applied colors in red, blue, green, and pink. The work is presented in a molded wooden frame with a neutral mat and secured with a cardboard backing and glazier’s points.
