Description
This pair of hand-colored lithographs is attributed to the firm Currier and Ives, based on the specific titles and subject matter. The first print is titled LITTLE GEORGIE. and features a sentimental portrait of a young boy with long dark ringlets wearing a red jacket and white collar. The second print is titled THE CARRIER DOVE. THE DEPARTURE. and depicts a woman in a red and blue garment holding a pigeon. Both titles are printed in the center of the lower margins. The prints are housed in matching 19th-century rustic-style carved wood frames. These frames feature a cross-corner design with relief-carved oak leaves and acorns at each corner, accented by notched borders and thin gilded inner liners. The back of each frame is finished with wood plank backings and wire hangers.
