Description

An assortment of five monochrome and sepia-toned studio portraits, dating from approximately the late 19th to the mid-20th century. The collection includes a variety of photographic processes, likely comprising silver gelatin prints and albumen prints. The subjects consist of formal individual portraits including a woman in an elegant long gown seated in a chair, an older woman wearing spectacles, a young man with a side-parted hairstyle, a man in a dark suit, and a small child standing outdoors. The photographs are presented in a diverse group of mounts and frames. One print is housed in a large wooden swivel-mount desk frame featuring carved scrollwork. Another is set within a large wooden shadowbox frame containing an ornate gilt inner frame. A smaller portrait is presented in a cast-metal frame with a decorative scrolled crest. Two additional photographs are mounted behind forest green fabric-covered matsóone featuring an oval apertureówithin matching wooden frames with gilt inner lips. No signatures, stamps, or edition numbers are visible on the prints or frames.
