Description
This 1865 lithograph, printed in oil colors by Bingham and Dodd of Hartford, Connecticut, features a half-length portrait of Abraham Lincoln based on a contemporary photograph. The lower margin contains a facsimile signature that reads A. Lincoln. and a publication line stating ENTERED ACCORDING TO ACT OF CONGRESS, IN THE YEAR 1865, BY BINGHAM & DODD, IN THE CLERK’S OFFICE OF THE DISTRICT COURT OF CONNECTICUT. The right side of the lower margin is inscribed PRINTED IN OIL COLORS BY BINGHAM & DODD, HARTFORD, CT. The artwork is mounted in a period dark-stained wood frame. The reverse of the frame is secured with original wood slats at the top and a corrugated cardboard panel at the bottom.
