Description

This lot features two original fuel-burning kerosene oil lamps constructed from clear glass with metal burners. The first lamp is a finger-hold style, characterized by a rounded, bulbous font with an integrated glass finger loop handle. The second lamp features a heavy square-bodied font. Both lamps are equipped with metal burners and glass chimneys. The burner on the square lamp retains a flat cotton wick that extends into the reservoir. The chimneys vary in style: the chimney for the finger-hold lamp has a smooth top rim, while the chimney for the square lamp features a decorative crimped or pie-crust rim. Each burner has four metal tines designed to secure the glass chimney. A mark is present on the metal wick-turning knobs consisting of a circular border enclosing text; however, the characters are heavily oxidized and not legible as a specific maker name. The metal components show a natural dark patina and surface oxidation consistent with age.Width: 4.5 inches (square lamp font)Height: 14 inches (overall height of square lamp including chimney).
