Description
A pair of contemporary American solid oak armchairs designed in the traditional Windsor bow-back style. Each chair features a bentwood hoop back enclosing nine tapered spindles. The curved arms are supported by three spindles each and lead into a contoured saddle seat. The chairs are supported by four turned legs reinforced by a double-H stretcher system. The underside of the seat bears a black heat-stamped maker mark (photo 7). The first word is partially obscured, but the readable text includes ARDSON BROTHERS, COMPANY, SINCE 1848, MADE IN THE USA, and a sequence of numbers 7 1991 462. The mark identifies the manufacturer as the Richardson Brothers Company, and the numbers indicate a production date of 1991. The chairs are finished in a golden oak tone and retain protective plastic glides on all feet.Width across the arms: 24 1/2 inchesSeat depth: 18 inchesOverall height: 38 1/2 inches.
