Lot 7:
Description
A hand-painted polychrome glazed porcelain figurine designed by Cesare Villari for Capodimonte. The piece depicts a seated lady in 18th-century Rococo attire, featuring a lavender-pink dress with floral patterns and gold-gilt trim. She is holding a single flower in one hand and an overflowing woven basket of multicolored, hand-modeled porcelain flowers in the other. Her hair is styled in a powdered, ornate fashion with a pink ribbon detail. The figure is seated on a rocky outcrop adorned with a floral cluster, resting on a circular white porcelain base with two concentric gold-gilt bands. The reverse of the base features a blue underglaze mark of a five-pointed crown over a capital letter N, with the words Capodimonte and Made in Italy. The base also bears an incised signature for C. Villari accompanied by a small incised crown and the letters GVS.
