Description

This set of contemporary Chinese ceramic tea vessels was produced by the Ruoshui Tang studio and includes a side-handled teapot, a tea caddy with a fabric-covered lid and tassel, and several tea cups. Each piece is constructed with a dual-glaze aesthetic, featuring a textured, tan-colored pear skin glaze on the interiors and upper sections, contrasted with a smooth white-glazed band on the exterior. The white-glazed portions are decorated with underglaze blue peony blossoms in a traditional Chinese style. Each vessel features a white band with a four-character blue calligraphic inscription reading Ruo Shui Tang Zhi, which translates to Made by Ruoshui Tang. A red square seal is positioned before the text. The base of the teapot also contains an impressed square studio mark reading Ruo Shui Tang. The teapot is designed with a lateral handle and an integrated ceramic strainer at the spout. The tea caddy lid is secured with a blue and white patterned fabric and a brown cord tassel with a wooden bead. The set is housed in a decorative presentation box with a tan fabric-covered lid, blue floral patterned sides, and a padded grey satin interior. The box lid features a label reading Zhen Tao Shi Jia, which translates to Precious Ceramics Family. Box Width: 10.75 inches Box Depth: 8.75 inches Box Height: 5.5 inches.
