Description
This cast iron still bank is modeled in the form of a caricatured officer, historically identified in collector literature as Mulligan the Policeman. The figure is depicted in a full uniform with a star-shaped badge on the left breast and a domed hat, holding a truncheon or nightstick against the right side. The bank is constructed of two vertical cast halves joined by a single flat-head screw on the reverse. A horizontal coin slot is positioned on the upper back of the figure. The design features exaggerated facial characteristics typical of early 20th-century ethnic caricatures. While visually consistent with designs produced by the A.C. Williams Co., this example bears no maker marks or inscriptions. Height: 5 7/8 inches Width: 3 inches Depth: 2 1/4 inches.
