Description
This photomechanical lithographic reproduction after an original watercolor by American artist Paul Sawyier (1865-1917) is titled Main Street Trolley. The work depicts a rainy street scene in Frankfort, Kentucky, showing a trolley car and pedestrians with umbrellas near the portico of the Old Capital Hotel. The piece is rendered in a soft Impressionist style with focus on light reflecting off the wet pavement. The print is hand-numbered 1361/5000 at the lower right, positioned below a printed signature reading PAUL SAWYIER. It is presented in a gilt-finished wood frame with a double mat in blue and gold. The reverse side holds a detailed authentication label from Paul Sawyier Galleries, Inc., which contains biographical information about the artist, the history of the Frankfort trolley system, and a certification that the print was produced in 1991 by the Stevenson Photo Color Company. Frame size: 26.5 x 19.75 inches.
