Paul Sawyier (American, 1865-1917). This framed print on paper, titled Old Capitol in Snow, depicts a nostalgic winter street scene in Frankfort, Kentucky. The composition features figures in early 20th-century attire and a horse-drawn carriage on a thoroughfare lined with bare, snow-covered trees, with the Old State Capitol building visible through the wintry haze in the background. The work is rendered in an impressionistic style with a muted palette of soft blues, grays, and browns, with opaque white gouache-like accents for the snow.
