Description
This impressionistic watercolor on paper by Henry Gasser (American, 1909-1981) depicts a nostalgic 19th-century street scene. The composition features a horse-drawn carriage with a red and black umbrella stopped on a dirt road before a grand white two-story residence. The house is detailed with green shutters, a second-story balcony with a wrought iron railing, and a covered front porch. Several mature trees with autumn-toned foliage are rendered with loose, atmospheric washes throughout the scene. The work is signed Henry Gasser in the lower right corner. The painting is professionally mounted with a triple mat in a bronze-finished wooden frame under Tru Vue Conservation Grade 99 percent UV protection glass.
