Description
This chromolithograph is a religious devotional print depicting The Last Supper, portraying Jesus Christ at the center of a long table flanked by his twelve apostles. A distinctive feature of this specific version is the inclusion of the names of the figures printed in a decorative blue font along the lower hem of the tablecloth. From left to right, the names transcribe as Bartholomaeus, Jacobus II, Andreas, Judas, Petrus, Joannes, Jesus Christus, Thomas, Jacobus I, Philippus, Matthaeus, Thaddaeus, and Simon. The print is rendered with a vivid color palette and shows the figures in expressive poses within an architectural setting featuring three windows that look out onto a hilly landscape.
