This is a vintage United States Marine Corps (USMC) 5-gallon (20-liter) steel fuel container, commonly known as a Jerry can. The vessel is constructed of welded steel and features the service-specific cam-lever locking cap and filler neck, a design typically utilized by the USMC and US Navy during the World War II and Korean War eras. The lower portion of the can is embossed with USMC to denote the branch of service. Centered above the embossed X-pattern reinforcement is a circled G mark, signifying the container was designated for gasoline storage. One side of the can displays a hand-painted tactical marking consisting of a yellow diamond with a pinkish-red border.
