Description
This vintage loudspeaker is identified as a Western Electric Model 10-D Loud Speaking Telephone Outfit, dating to the early 1920s. The unit features a large circular flared bell constructed from a black composition material, likely molded fiber or hard rubber, which is connected to a long, tapered, curved neck. The neck is mounted on a cylindrical metal base with a dark finish and a felt-covered bottom. A brass identification plate is affixed to the base, listing the manufacturer, model, and three patent dates: January 18, 1921; October 11, 1921; and December 13, 1921. A small gold-toned decal on the bell also bears the Western Electric logo.
