Description
A pair of large porcelain bowls featuring hand-painted underglaze blue decoration in the Chinese export style. The interior of each bowl is centered with a circular medallion depicting a traditional river landscape featuring a two-story pavilion, stylized trees, and mountains in the distance. The inner rim is decorated with a wide border composed of alternating panels containing floral sprays and birds, likely phoenixes, separated by vertical bands of geometric diaper patterns. The exterior continues the thematic decoration with a wrap-around landscape scene showing pagodas, bridges, and birds in flight. The bowls are robustly potted with a flared rim and sit on a short, unglazed foot ring. No maker marks or reign marks are visible.Diameter: 11.25 inchesHeight: 4.75 inches.
