Description
This is a vintage RCA Victor Model 65X1 AM tabletop vacuum tube radio, manufactured circa 1946. The unit features a dark brown molded Bakelite cabinet with a streamlined Art Deco design, characterized by rounded corners and horizontal ribbing on the side panels and integrated speaker grille. The front of the radio displays a horizontal slide-rule tuning dial with a yellow background and black frequency markings for the AM band ranging from 55 to 160 (550 to 1600 kHz). The manufacturer name RCA Victor is molded into the cabinet face below the speaker and printed on the dial face. The rear of the unit retains a portion of its original fiberboard back panel, which features a Golden Throat tone certification label with the signature of D.D. Cole, Chief Engineer for the Home Instrument Division of RCA Victor. Inside, the chassis contains multiple vacuum tubes, including one visible RCA Radiotron electron tube. Two matching circular control knobs are present on the front for volume and tuning. Width: 11.75 inches Height: 7.25 inches Depth: 7 inches.
