Description
A framed work on board depicting a traditional Dutch landscape scene. The composition is centered on a large windmill with a stone base and timber-clad upper section, positioned adjacent to a small cottage with a red-tiled roof and white picket fence. To the left, a canal or river reflects the colors of a sunset sky, with a second windmill visible in the distance. The foreground includes a winding dirt path and various blooming flowers. The work appears to be a color print or lithograph on board. It is presented in a substantial double frame consisting of a wide, stained wood outer molding and a deeply carved gilt-composition inner frame with floral and foliate motifs. The reverse is sealed with brown kraft paper and fitted with a hanging wire.26.5 x 26.75 in.
