Description
This lot features a pair of framed color prints on paper after watercolor paintings by the Kentucky impressionist artist Paul Sawyier (1865-1917). The first print is titled Old Capitol Hotel in the Rain and depicts an atmospheric rainy street scene with pedestrians and horse-drawn carriages in Frankfort, Kentucky. The second print is titled View From Shaker Landing and portrays a sun-dappled rural path flanked by stone walls and lush trees. Both works are rendered in the artists signature soft-focus watercolor style. The prints are set behind white mats in decorative gilt-finished ornate frames with scroll and bead detailing. The versos are sealed with cardboard and brown tape. One verso includes a printed label reading OLD CAPITOL HOTEL IN THE RAIN / PAUL SAWYIER / PSCH1. The second verso includes a typed label reading View From Shaker Landing / by / Paul Sawyier. Both frames are equipped with metal sawtooth hangers.Overall frame dimensions: 8.5 x 6.5 inches.
