Description
This lot features two vintage ceramic commemorative decanters. The first is a limited edition LeRoy Neiman Great American Sports series decanter, identified on the reverse as the third and final in a series. The front displays a polychrome expressionist action scene of American football players, including jersey numbers 40 and 52, with a facsimile LeRoy Neiman signature in the lower left corner. The reverse features a printed label for Satinwood Blended Whiskey, produced by the Satin Wood Distilling Company of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. The label includes a photograph of the artist, a short historical summary titled The Boston Game, and whiskey specifications. The second item is a commemorative ceramic decanter modeled after the Liberty Bell. It is finished with a metallic copper or bronze glaze on the bell and a brown wood-grain textured glaze on the yoke. The body of the bell features molded text replicating the original 1753 inscription from Leviticus 25:10.
