Description
This contemporary hand-carved decorative sculpture depicts the Laughing Buddha, also known as Budai or Hotei. The figure is sculpted from a single section of a tree trunk or root, possibly cedar, utilizing the natural organic form of the wood as part of the design. The upper portion featuring the head and shoulders is carved with a joyful expression and finished with a smooth, polished patina, while the remainder of the sculpture preserves the raw texture, knots, and grain of the timber.
