Description
This stoneware lidded pitcher was produced by the P.R. Storie Pottery Co. in Marshall, Texas. The vessel features a bulbous form with a pinched pouring spout, a single loop handle, and a matching fitted lid with a round knob finial. It is constructed from stoneware finished in a smooth cream-colored glaze and decorated with hand-painted cobalt blue underglaze. The front of the jar depicts a folk-art style rural landscape featuring a barn surrounded by leafless trees. The side of the vessel, near the base of the painting, is signed and dated M and Sue 84. The underside of the base bears a stamped blue mark that reads P. R. STORIE POTTERY CO. MARSHALL, TEX. Height: 5.75 inches Width: 6.5 inches Diameter at Rim: 5.5 inches.
