Lot 257:
Description
This lot features a photomechanical lithographic reproduction on paper titled Autumn Angler, after an original transparent watercolor by American Impressionist artist Paul Sawyier. The naturalistic scene depicts a solitary fisherman wading in Elkhorn Creek near Church’s Grove, Kentucky, framed by large sycamore trees rendered in soft autumnal tones. The print bears the printed signature PAUL SAWYIER in the lower right corner, accompanied by a hand-inscribed edition number 380/2000 in ink. The verso includes a comprehensive authentication and biographical label from Paul Sawyier Galleries, Inc., Frankfort, Kentucky, which specifies that the print was published in 1988 and all plates have been destroyed. The artwork is housed in a double mat and an ornate, gold-toned wood frame with a distressed finish. Outer frame dimensions: 22.5 x 14.5 inches.
