Description
A cylindrical stoneware storage jar or crock featuring a straight-sided body with a slightly flared, rounded rim and a flat base. The piece is finished with a mottled yellow-to-buff glaze on the exterior and a dark brown slip glaze on the interior. It includes a flat, circular wooden lid topped with a small white porcelain knob secured by a central screw. No maker marks, stamps, capacity markings, or decorative elements are present on the body or rim. This form of utilitarian stoneware was widely produced across Eastern and Midwestern United States potteries during the late 19th to early 20th century.Diameter: Approximately 8 inches at the rimHeight: Approximately 8.5 inches (crock only); approximately 9 inches to the top of the lid knob.
