Description
This is a Winchester Model 1885 Low Wall falling block single-shot rifle chambered for the .32 W.C.F. cartridge, also known as the .32-20 Winchester. The rifle is equipped with a 28-inch full octagonal barrel featuring a thinned blued finish that has largely transitioned into an attractive, dark brown patina. The receiver is the desirable Low Wall variant, designed for smaller centerfire and rimfire cartridges. Prominent markings include the caliber designation 32 W.C.F. on the barrel and the serial number 19097 stamped on the lower tang, which identifies this firearm as being manufactured in 1888. The furniture consists of a smooth, straight-grip walnut stock and a matching wood forend, both exhibiting honest wear consistent with field use. The stock is fitted with a traditional steel crescent-style buttplate. Sights include a blade front sight and an adjustable buckhorn-style rear notch sight.
