Description
SHIPPING NOT AVAILABLE, FOR PICK UP OR TRANSPORT ONLY – This is a Montgomery Ward Airline brand floor console vacuum tube radio, likely produced between 1937 and 1938. The wooden cabinet is designed in the Art Deco style, featuring a waterfall top edge and a multi-tone finish. The front panel contains a large, circular multi-band dial marked Montgomery Ward Airline. This dial is calibrated for standard broadcast and shortwave bands, including Police, Amateurs, Airplanes, and Ships. It features a wave band indicator with red, green, and blue markers, and indicators for bass and treble. Below the dial are five wooden control knobs, one of which is marked Volume. The lower section houses the speaker behind a grille with three vertical wooden slats over a light-colored fabric. The rear reveals a metal chassis with vacuum tubes, including one manufactured by Sylvania, a transformer, and an electrodynamic speaker.
