Description
This mid-to-late 20th-century sporting scene is an oil on canvas depicting an English Setter on point in a dense, autumnal landscape, focused on two game birds in flight. The work is signed S. Lee in white paint in the lower right corner. The artist employs a varied technique, using thick impasto to define the texture of the foreground grasses and the plumage of the birds, while the background trees and misty atmosphere are rendered with softer, more blended brushwork. The painting is presented in a dark-stained wooden frame with a gilded inner bead and a beige linen-covered liner.
