Description
An antique two-tone stoneware advertising jug produced for the Prell Mercantile Company of Bremen, Kansas. The jug features a cylindrical body with a sloped shoulder, a short neck, and a single loop handle attached from the neck to the shoulder. It is finished with a two-tone glaze, consisting of a dark brown Albany-type slip glaze on the top section and a cream-colored Bristol-type glaze on the lower body. The front of the jug bears a cobalt blue stenciled advertising mark enclosed in a rectangular border. The transcription of the mark reads: PRELL MERCANTILE COMPANY BREMEN, – KANS. Height: 7 inches Diameter: 5 inches.
