Lot 461:
Description
This tall-back hall chair is designed in the Jacobean Revival style, featuring extensive turned ornamentation throughout the frame. The structure is composed of dark-stained wood, possibly pine or a similar hardwood. The back consists of two vertical uprights decorated with complex ring, ball, and bobbin turnings, each topped with a tapered finial. A central, vertically oriented upholstered panel is secured between these posts. The seat frame features a distinctive undulating front rail. Both the seat and the central back panel are upholstered in a dark green velvet fabric, held in place with brass-finished nailhead trim. The chair is supported by four bobbin-turned legs that are joined by a coordinating H-stretcher. The joinery follows standard period construction with turned elements fitted into square block sections of the frame. No maker marks, labels, or stamps are visible on the piece.
