Description
A pair of vintage ceramic whiskey decanters produced for the James B. Beam Distilling Co. to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Oldsmobile brand (1897-1972). The decanters are modeled after the early 1900s Oldsmobile Curved Dash runabout. Each item is constructed from black glazed ceramic featuring red pinstripe detailing and gold starburst motifs on the seat sides. The tufted-style seat serves as the decanter stopper. The pieces are mounted on a chassis with red-spoked wheels and include brass-tone headlamps. Paper labels on the dashboard area identify the product as Jim Beam 100 Month Old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey (86 proof, 4/5 quart). The sides feature red and gold Oldsmobile decals, and the hood bears a 75th-anniversary logo with the dates 1897-1972. The rear panels display hand-painted identifiers XX 917 and AP 675.
